Our Emergency Department treats everything from cuts, broken bones and high fevers to life threatening events, such as cardiac arrest or stroke. When you need emergency care, trust Sonoma West Medical Center.
Comprehensive, state-of-the-art emergency medical care begins immediately upon your arrival at Sonoma West Medical Center. To provide efficient, compassionate and excellent care, SWMC is proud to be partnered with VEP Healthcare, led by Medical Director, Dr. Steven P. Maron, M.D.
Dr. Maron joined VEP Healthcare in 1990 and now serves as Chief Executive Officer and President of VEP Healthcare. He oversees the management and growth of Emergency Department, Hospitalist, Nurse and Allied staffing of hospitals working with VEP Healthcare. Dr. Maron has served as a medical physician at numerous VEP Healthcare staffed hospitals.
VEP Healthcare is a California Professional Corporation formed in 1981, whose stockholders are its practicing physicians and allied health providers. VEP Healthcare and Sonoma West Medical Center make a great team as many of VEP Healthcare’s client hospitals are located in rural and resort areas. VEP Healthcare provides emergency medicine to over 20 hospitals in California, with over 300 physicians and 90 Allied Health Providers, over 90% of which are Board Certified or Board Eligible in Emergency Medicine or Primary Care Specialty.
At SWMC the entire Emergency Department team does everything in its power to enhance efficiency while improving patient care by using direct triage the moment you enter the facility. After immediate evaluation by an ER nurse, you will see an ED physician and have direct access to our broad range of specialists. Our physicians and staff are trained to handle everything from minor injuries to life-threatening events such as cardiac arrest and stroke. The SWMC Emergency Department offers efficient and compassionate care, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Even though SWMC has a relatively small number of beds, we are supported by our helipad and helicopter transportation in and out of the facility. That capability brings us very close to the best specialty centers in Northern California, minutes away from the hospital. Our helipad serves the greater West Sonoma County, including the far western coastal regions, bringing transportation capabilities to and from the facility within minutes.
That capability includes access to Children’s Hospital in Oakland, as well as specialty centers in the greater bay area.
